You may take lesser time to upload your GST return

If you are a GST registered dealer, which I am sure you are, else you might not have been reading it, then you must be aware of this habit.

It is the habit to keep pushing things forward until the last date. 

For example, if the last date to file your tax return is July 31, then on every day passing by you keep telling yourself say that you have X days to submit so that you would do it tomorrow. And this continues happening until July last week.

The technical word for it is "Procrastination."

But do you know that this "procrastination" problem was perhaps the reason for our severe teething issues in early GST days? Because of procrastination habit, most of us tried to upload our GST returns in the last week, and as servers were not very robust, they cracked.

In their 27 meeting, GST Council has found out a route to lessen the server burden on last days. Noticing our procrastination habit, they have decided to have staggering last dates for filing GST returns.

Staggering last dates mean that now different dealers would have different last dates to file GST returns.

These staggering dates depend upon your turnover. 

Say your turnover is Rs10Crore and your wife's turnover is Rs1Crore then the last date for you could be 20th but for your wife, it could be 10th of the next month.

At first, since you have to submit only one return, server burden would reduce to one-third of original and then these staggering dates would distribute the pressure on different dates. 

As a result, servers would handle fewer returns every day and so would not break down.

After implementation, as servers would efficiently work, you may take lesser time to upload your returns.
