How to file an income tax return?
Due date to file an income tax return is about to come. All the individuals should file their returns on or before 31st July. All you have to file your return online. Super senior citizens are however allowed to file a physical return.
ITR-1 can be directly prepare and submit in income tax portal. In case of other ITRs you have to download and submit XML.
Please follow the following steps to file your return electronically.
Step-1: Register yourself in Income Tax Portal if you are filing return for the first time.
Step-2: Login with your ID and password.
Step-3: Go to e-file and select income tax Return. Select AY, ITR form applicable for you and mode of submission.
Step-4:- Click on continue and it will ask you upload XML of your return.
Step-5: Click on Submit, you will be asked to verify return through any one of the following.
- Through Aadhaar OTP or
- Electronic Verification Code (EVC) method
- Through an offline method by sending a signed printout of the ITR V to CPC, Bengaluru within 120 days from the date of e-filing.
When you submit your return acknowledgement (ITR-V) will be sent on your registered email address.
