Residential status is determined as per the no of days you spend in India and tax liability is calculated accordingly.

Income tax act has prescribed the three types of residential status considering the the period you stay in India.

As per the income tax act, person may have any of the following resdential status.
1.. Resident and ordinary resident
2. Resident and not-ordinary resident
3. Non-Resident
