A person who has to pay tax under the act is an assessee.
As per section 2(7) of the income tax act, assessee means a person who is liable to pay the tax to government and it includes
Person who is deemed to be an assessee under the act.
Person who is deemed to be an assessee in-default by any provision of the act.
