Decision making is a managerial process and function of choosing a particular course of action out of several alternative courses for the purpose of accomplishment of the organizational goals.

The organisation may have various types of decisions such as routine, tactical or strategic in nature. Strategic decisions are different from other decisions. They have long term implications, steer organisation to its future path and have organisation wide implications and so on. These decisions are taken considering different internal and external factors. They are also taken with partial or no definite knowledge of different factors affecting the decision situation.
