Bihar raises entertainment tax rate

Bihar has trebled the entertainment tax; It has hiked the tax from Rs15 per subscriber to Rs50 per subscriber. Bihar has about 2 to 3 million subscribers. Times of India states that Bihar is taking this step to plug the revenue gap that has resulted because of the imposition of prohibition.It had a shortfall of Rs5000 crore.
