In Videocon loan case CBI to exmine ICICI CEO Chanda Kochar

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Videocon loan case is to examine ICICI bank CEO Chanda Kochhar for her part to sanction Videocon a loan of Rs 3,250 crore.Many of the bank employees are already interrogated by CBI in the case and after the documents collected by the top agency suggested that some top officials were involved in the case,more enquiries will be done. CBI opines after analysing the documents confiscated during the whole investigation, that top offices were involved in the loan sanctioning and many rules were not followed. Chanda Kochhar will only be examined by CBI to know what benefits if any her husband Deepak Kochhar reaped out of the fraudulent transaction which has now amounted to a huge NPA (Non performing assets). As per reports,owner(Venugopal Dhoot) of Videocon Group after taking this Rs 3,250 crore loan from ICICI Bank,invested a large part of the amount to Supreme Energy, a company, an entity owned by him, whose ownership was later transferred to Deepak Kochhar (Chanda Kochhar's husband) at a meagre amount of Rs 9 lakh only. Chanda Kochhar was a part of the committee which sanctioned the loan to Videocon Group. Board of ICICI Bank denied all the allegations terming them as “malicious and unfounded rumours” over reports against Chanda Kochhar regarding credit disbursement to Videocon group. “No individual employee, whatever may be his or her position, has the ability to influence the credit decision at the bank,” the bank said in a statement. 

While talking to PTI, Dhoot had said that he was not knowing that Chanda Kochhar was with this bank when he got the loan for Videocon,but she was in the committee of 12 members which passed loan to Videocon Group.
