So many consultants accept jobs from unethical, ornery, nasty, or otherwise unfriendly prospects, thinking they should patiently manage because of fees. Yet, as a thumb-rule, no matter what the fee, nasty clients will cost you more than you keep. They will lick your brain, suck your time. Bad prospects are bad clients.
