Check how long have you been providing service X? Is it 2 years? Go ahead and increase your fees, actively and aggressively. If you're thinking that you're still providing the same kind of value, so you shouldn't increase, then you're absolutely wrong because expenses keep mounting, even in the times of low inflation. Plus, your clients, customers and suppliers are also doing the same, increasing fees. If you use occasional base fees—for a keynote speech or a strategy retreat, for example—raise these by at least 10 percent every two years. But raise them for new clients and raise them for existing clients only if you’re providing demonstrably more value.
