(i) In FAQs dated 03.08.2017 in leading dailies, it was clarified that tamarind kernel falls under HS code 1207 and attracts Nil GST. (ii) It is however clarified that :- (a) tamarind kernel of seed quality attracts Nil GST, whereas (b) tarmarind kernel of other than seed quality attracts 5% GST.
