Can I claim the deduction for the insurance premium paid for my dependent grandfather under section…

Can I claim the deduction for the insurance premium paid for my dependent grandfather under section 80D (of Income Tax Act, 1961)?

No, insurance premium paid for grandfather is not eligible for the deduction.

Under section 80D you would get the deduction of for medical insurance premium paid for the family members.

The health insurance premium paid for the following members in a family are eligible for deductions:

Self
Spouse
Children
Parents
So you can not avail the deduction for the medical insurance premium paid for your grandfather.
