This statement is not correct.
Simply stating, benchmarking is an approach of setting goals and measuring productivity based on best industry practices in order to achieve competitive organisational goals.
Benchmarking encourage the improvement in the performance by comparing different aspects of performance with the best practices, identifying gaps and methods to minimise the gaps and improve the situations.
Benchmarking itself can not solve all the business problems that arise in an organisation. However, it analyses the existing processes which provides the framework for the improvement. BPR mostly strives to improve performance. It is about business reinvention. It is not simply a business improvement, business enhancement, or business Modification. BPR may be viewed a as a means of solving business problems.
