In case you were supposed to file your income tax return and do not file.

-There is always a risk that you may receive a notice from income tax department or

-you WILL not be able to get back your deducted tax amount (i.e. TDS refund)

Either way, you will be the one getting into trouble, may it be through the means of penalties and late fees or forfeiture of your TDS.

It is strongly recommended to file your returns. Lucky for you, the last date has been extended to 31st August, 2018. I hope you make good use of it :)
