The Indian government has been moving towards zero tolerance for corruption. The government has been taken action against the government servant on the account of corruption and professional misbehaviour.

Last week, the government had sacked twelve income tax officers. They were on compulsory retirement on the charge of corruption and professional misconduct, as said by the government.  


All these retired income tax officials were ranging from Commissioner of income tax officer to assistant income tax officer.


After a week of such action against the officials, the government has announced the compulsory retirement for custom and central excise officials too.


On Tuesday, June 18, the government has told its 15 custom and central excise officials to leave their office. 


As per the finance ministry, it has taken an action based on section 56(J) of the fundamental law. It is said that the president has exercised power provided under this section.


Among these retired officials, some of them had charges of corruption and bribery. 


These retired officials are Anup Srivastava(Principal commissioner), Atul Dikshit(Commissioner), Sansar Chand(Commissioner), G Shree Harsha(Commissioner), Vinay Brij Singh(Commissioner) and remaining ten more officials includes Joint commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, assistant commissioners.



The government has said that this action is taken as a penalty and it will certainly demotivate the bribery and corruption to others. 



All these retiring officials will be given equivalent to pay and allowances for the three months which will be calculated based on the drawing just before the retirement.



Within a week, 27 senior tax officers of government has been retired from their service.
