Well, if the payment is short of what you should have paid to begin with, the proper officer will raise a demand on you, including or not including any interests and penalties thereon, for willful omission of information and or possibly a fraudulent behaviour.
If you have paid more than that of your tax liability, you can revise your return and file for refund.
